Strange sort of week. First we were treated to the sight of a member of the former junta finally getting her comeuppance in court. Ms Renata Beger, formerly a member of parliament from Samobrona, the populist nutjob party (or populist ‘protest’ party as most journalists call it), was found to have had more than a few forged signatures on her application to stand as an MP in 2001.

This week I haven’t been given so much as a single free drink by a bar owner. The good news is that I’ve been in a place where a large beer in a pub on the old town square is just five zlotys. It’s a place that is as beautiful as Krakow (i.e. very) but has cheaper hotels than the former and as many tourists as Radom (i.e. PLN 260 for a four star and none, respectively).
