Best of the worst holiday gripes

(2009-07-11) A list of bizarre compensation requests from Poles unhappy with their holidays abroad has been released by Warsaw tourist office.

In pole position among the tourist office’s ‘Best of’ is a complaint from a woman who claims her daughter got pregnant from sperm floating in a swimming pool in Egypt.

Magdalena Kwiatkowska demanded compensation after her 13-year-old daughter returned from a family holiday expecting a baby.

“The mother is adamant that her daughter didn’t meet any boys while she was there,” one travel industry source confirmed.

Other complaints from Egyptian holidays include “Too many Arabs in Egypt”, “Too much sand on the beaches”, “loud moaning” from a local mosque and “Too hot’ in July and August.

Other Poles had problems with the fact that they were the only Poles in the hotel, whilst others complained of too many of their fellow countrymen.

Yet others felt intimidated by the number of Brits and Germans.

Another whinge for Polish holiday-makers in Egypt was feeling sick after eating the local food. This led to some taking photos of their toilet deposits to prove they had had diarrhoea.

But it is not only Egypt that has caused Poles to gripe. Turkey also got a blasting from a Krakow-based doctor who claimed compensation for mouldy air.

He said he had to spend the whole holiday walking around with a glass containing what he called “fresh air.”
