Revised 2009 budget sees higher deficit

The government approved an amended 2009 budget on Tuesday that foresees lower revenues and a higher budget deficit than originally planned for this year. The budget revision proposal now heads to the Sejm for a vote.
The budget proposal anticipates tax revenues coming in PLN 46.6 billion short of the original PLN 251.4 billion planned for 2009, but sees keeping the revenue gap to only PLN 30.1 by raising more money from non-tax sources. Among these are increased dividends income from state-owned companies from PLN 3.3 billion to PLN 5.3 billion, and higher proceeds from privatization.
