Poles opposed to same sex marriage

87 percent of Polish citizens are opposed to the adopting of children by homosexual couples, according to a poll taken by GfK Polonia.

A further 75 percent of the public do not wish to allow the legalization of same sex marriages.

"This shows that Poland is still a society devoted to traditional values. They are also not subject to fashion and pressure from other European states," says Prof. Zdzislaw Krasnodebski, a sociologist from Warsaw University.

He points out the fact that same sex marriages are already legalized in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain, whilst the adoption of children by homosexuals is possible in Sweden, Spain and Great Britain.
