Romania growing competition for Poland

Poland is facing ever greater competition from Romania as a site for investment on the continent, according to reports in the daily Rzeczpospolita.
Compared to most of Europe, Poland has been relatively spared by cost cutting in businesses investment, but that does not mean the heat is off. According to the daily, investors are complaining that the climate for investment is not as good in Poland as in the past.
One area where Poland has lost ground in terms of competitiveness is wages. In 2008, salaries in the country rose 10-12 percent, while in Romania they average a third less. The threat of tax hikes this year and an unwieldy court system were also cited in the report as obstacles ...
