Speedway fans are celebrating the national teams victory in the World Championships following a thrilling finale which pitted the Poles against the Ozzies. Taking place in front a fervent home crowd in Leszno the finals, contested by eight teams, got underway a day late following heavy storms the day before. For home supporters it proved a wait worthwhile, and in spite of trailing for most of the rounds Poland claimed a dramatic last gasp triumph with Polish captain Tomasz Gollob stealing victory from under the noses of the Australians.
