Row over MPs’ bonuses

Politicians have come in for a roasting this week after it was revealed they have been giving themselves huge payout bonuses.
According to the daily Rzeczpospolita, Parliamentary Speaker Bronislaw Komorowski, four of his deputies and three ministers in the Parliamentary Chancellery, received up to PLN 500,000 in bonuses authorised by Komorowski.
But despite an official communique from the Chancellery’s office claiming “The bonuses were paid according to exactly the same rules as applies to other central government offices,” the move has brought criticism from parliamentarians who accuse the MPs of double standards.
