Thursday proved a night of mixed results as three Polish clubs took their early steps in the nascent stages of the Europa League. Lech Poznan secured the most eye catching result, thumping Fredrikstad 6-1 away in Norway.
Last season’s cup winners recorded a runaway win thanks to strikes from Wilk, the want-away Lewandowski, Peszko, Bandrowski and a brace from Arboleda. Legia Warszawa meanwhile came away with a credible draw against Brondby, with both sides benefiting from a penalty each. Results were less favourable for cross-city rivals Polonia who crashed 1-0 at home to Dutch side NAC Breda. Return fixtures to be played on August 6. ...
