Controversy surrounding Piotr Farfal, the head of state-owned public television, increased after a newspaper published a series of pictures of him giving the Nazi salute.One photograph printed by the tabloid Fakt shows an 18-year-old Farfal, surrounded by a group of friends.
Decked in the jeans and short jackets associated with skinheads, they all stand and give the salute. Another picture shows a shirtless Farfal, saluting once again, with two others.
“The gesture given by Farfal is a cursed symbol of the one of the darkest chapters of history,” commented Senator Krzysztof Piesiewicz. “Poles should be especially sensitive to this.”
