Gas crisis looms

Poland may face a crisis in terms of natural gas supplies beginning in January, following an impasse in contract negotiations with the Russian Gazprom over next year's gas imports.
“The current situation clearly indicates that we should think about anti-crisis measures,” Economy Minister Waldemar Pawlak told radio TOK FM.
Russia and Poland have been renegotiating a previously signed contract for gas supplies since April, in part because Gazprom wants to change its role in co-running the gas transit pipeline operator EuRoPol Gaz, which is co-owned by Gazprom and the Polish PGNiG.
