French-born Ludovic Obraniak became an instant hero on Wednesday night after bagging both of Poland’s goals in Wednesday’s friendly against Greece. Obraniak, whose knowledge of Polish doesn’t extend beyond a couple of words, was granted Polish citizenry in June on account of his Polish grandfather, and made an immediate impact in an impressive debut. After a dour first half the game sparked into life in the 47th minute when the Lille forward deflected a Marcin Wasilewski shot past the helpless Greeks. Victory was sealed on 79 minutes when Obraniak nipped in to take the game 2-0. The result goes some way to easing the pressure on coach Leo Beenhakker whose future has been under constant ...
