Poland’s top tennis hope Agnieszka Radwankska came within a whisker of reaching the final of the two million dollar Pan Pacific Open this morning, before finally being edged out by former world number one Maria Sharapova. The Russian bombshell eased the first set 6-3, before stumbling against the Pole in the second. A double fault handed Radwanska a 5-2 advantage, with the Krakow-born player sealing the second set 6-2 with a powerful serve down the middle of the court. Radwanska, seeded eleventh in the tournament, was starting to look good for the final, and roared into an early 2-0 lead against a clearly out-of-sorts Sharapova.
