Cop computers open to hackers

Computers at Poland’s National Police Headquarters do not have up-to-date anti-virus software and face the risk of serious cyber attacks, it has been revealed this week.


According to daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, somewhere in the region of 1,000 computers are currently at threat after the licensing expired at the beginning of April. Due to a huge lack of police funds, the money is simply not there to replace it.

This follows on from the news in May this year that patrol cars were carrying radios which transmitted on normal frequencies without scrambling devices, meaning anyone with a standard scanner could listen in on information.
