Polanski to remain in Switzerland

Swiss authorities have rejected Roman Polanski’s plea to be released from prison in Zurich, but remain in the country.

Falco Galli, spokesman for the justice ministry, said this was due to the high probability that he may try to evade justice again.

“Our position remains unchanged: we think there is a big chance that Polanski will escape,” he said.
Polanski now faces extradition to the US to again face trial for having unlawful sex with the then 13-year-old Samantha Gailey in 1977.
