Warsaw ghetto uprising leader dies

The last surviving leader of the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising against the Nazis, Marek Edelman, who died this week aged 90, was buried on Friday at 12:00pm.


Close friend Paula Sawicka told the Associated Press that he died “at home, among friends.”

Edelman, then 23, was one of 200 young Jews who fought German troops during the uprising, before it was finally crushed after three weeks by the Nazis. ...
