EC gives green light to Govt.'s financial plan

The EC has approved the Polish government's plan to help businesses deal with the tough market conditions and tighter lines of credit that resulted from last year's financial crisis.
The aid will be available to companies with financial difficulties caused by a lack of available bank credit. The plan aims to provide direct subsidies and loan conversion through 2010.
Companies will have access to as much as EUR 500,000 in direct aid to help fund activities such as the completion of existing projects. But only companies with problems that arose after June of 2008 – when credit markets began to collapse – will be eligible to receive the assistance.
