The vice president of the United Sates, Joe Biden, jetted into Warsaw last week as part of three-state tour of Central Europe that had been touted as an attempt to improve relations with countries in the region still smarting from the Obama administration’s cancellation of a controversial anti-missile shield.During meetings with Donald Tusk and Lech Kaczynski the vice president was quick to quell Polish fears that Washington had sacrificed its security interests in an effort to curry favour with Moscow, saying that America’s commitment to Poland “was unwavering”.
