Katarzyna Z., the owner of the Radosc [Happiness] old people’s home in Warsaw who was filmed beating and abusing the elderly residents in her care, was given a two year suspended sentence and ordered to undergo anger management therapy. The case broke in Dec 2007, when Lukasz K., a temporary employee, filmed the abuse using his mobile phone and passed it on to reporters. The film showed an elderly woman being slapped in the face, verbally abused and denigrated. Additionally, the care home was operating without the proper licenses.
