Poland’s bang on course to host Euro 2012, or so says Michel Platini: ‘Preparations for the championships are being realised according to schedule’, said the Frenchman, praise indeed considering Poland came within a whisker of losing the tournament following political interference last year.
Co-hosts, Ukraine, remain something of an Achilles heel however, with Platini enigmatically describing their situation as ‘complex’. UEFA are believed to be unimpressed by Ukraine’s progress in improving infrastructure and building stadia, and a final decision to rule if they are sufficiently prepared to host the tournament will be made next month. ...
