Poland’s preparations to deal with an expected swine flu outbreak were called into question after the press revealed that the country had enough anti-flu medication to cover just 3 per cent of the population.As neighbouring Ukraine battled an epidemic that had infected thousands and other European countries stocked up on drugs like Tamiflu, Poland’s stocks fell well short of the 20 per cent recommended by the World Health Organisation.
Some countries such as Switzerland and Finland now have enough of the drug to treat their entire populations.
But an investigation by TVN journalists has revealed that in Poland there is only 900 doses available.
