More US troops needed, says Sikorski

Foreign Minister Sikorski this week called for more US troops on Polish soil. Speaking on Wednesday to the Centre for Strategic Studies, Sikorski said he needed convincing about the US's commitment to Polish security, and asked for a greater presence of troops in the region, as currently there are only six US soldiers deployed in Poland. “We need more strategic reassurance,” he said.
His comments were met with surprise by his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. “If he did say that, it makes me deeply astonished," Lavrov said. ...
