Uprising holiday

A new bill has been introduced, declaring August 1st as a national holiday in order to commemorate the anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising.


Unanimously supported by the senate, the bill is currently awaiting President Kaczynski’s signature - although it has been made clear it will not be a free day from work.

“This will be a tribute to the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising, those who defended the existence of the state, fighting for the liberation of the capital, and aiming to restore the institution of an independent Polish State,” said a statement. ...
