Men down at uni

The abolition of compulsory national service has led to a decline in the number of men enrolling at university according to Dziennik.
In 2003, over half of Polish students were male, while this year has seen the figure drop to a much more modest 33 percent, with the gap expected to grow in the coming years.
Whereas in the past men would use going to university as a means to escape conscription, now it has been abolished, many have decided that higher education is of little use to them.
The decrease of students could seriously affect universities, especially private ones as many owe their existence to a higher demand for studies. ...
