GUS figures reveal mixed picture

Two reports published this week by the Central Statistics Office (GUS) show that many young people are struggling on the labour market in Poland and that most Poles are earning somewhat less than the official national average.
Statistics released Wednesday by GUS were based on the method for calculating employment statistics in the EU. While the official figure for the unemployment rate in Poland now exceeds 11 percent, according to the EU's Eurostat, the figure is only 8.1 percent.
