Good times for Polish skiing this week, with Justyna Kowalczyk heading the leader board in the cross country World Cup, and the men’s ski jumping squad finishing fifth overall in the opening meeting of their World Cup.
Kowalczyk, current holder of both the overall and distance world titles, finished first in the 1.2k race, a result that leaves her top two races into the thirty event championships. Poland’s ski jumpers meanwhile finished fifth in Finland after jumps of 141.5 metres by the legendary Adam Malysz, 133 metres by Kamil Stoch and 127.5 metres by Krzysztof Mietus. Austria, Germany, Finland and Russia all finished higher. ...
