A technical fault in the car of the wife of the foreign minister triggered an explosion of worldwide media speculation with vivid speculation of Russian assassination plots and work of evil-minded mafia men.Appearing across the globe, the stories started after Radek Sikorski’s wife, the award-winning writer Anne Applebaum, called the fire brigade after her car’s engine began to emit smoke and flames as she drove home through the Warsaw suburbs.
