Spending on road and highway construction in Poland is higher than ever before, spurred by EU funds and a race to complete major projects before the Euro 2102 football championships.According to the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA), this year the government will spend more than PLN 18 bln on projects linked to the national road transport system.
Currently, nearly 700 km of highways and expressways are under construction, with a total of 2000 km planned for completion by the end of 2012.
How much of this will be ready for fans travelling between cities for the football championships is still unclear.
