Gorzow Regional Court passed sentences of 25 and 15 years in prison this week on the perpetrators of a brutal murder of a two-and-a-half year old girl; a 68-year-old man and the girl’s 28-year-old mother.

The murder took place in March 2008 at the man’s home, a converted smithy, when after the pair had spent the whole day drinking the man grabbed the young girl and beat her about the head with a wooden stake before taking her outside and throwing her into a well, where she drowned. The girl’s mother assisted in trying to cover up evidence of the crime; meanwhile her six-year-old son ran next door and alerted neighbours who called the police.
