“Heavens no! Don’t do that!”
The budget debate in Gdansk City Hall this Thursday was disrupted by a group of three protesters with a megaphone, leading to a brief scuffle. The budget discussion was halted for about twenty minutes as the protesters tried to make their point regarding proposed increases in rent on council properties.They demanded improved dialogue with authorities before a security officer moved in and, attempting to remove the protester with the megaphone, hit the man in the stomach with his baton. Onlooking councillors reacted strongly, “Heavens no! Don’t do that!” cried one. The protesters continued for a while longer, referring to the councillors as “leeches”, before being removed by police. ...
