Ebi Smolarek ended his exile from the football field this week after being picked up by Greek first division side Kavala FC.

Twenty eight year old Smolarek, released by Santander at the end of last season, had seen several potential moves crash following allegations of sky high wage demands. The front man, capped 43 times for his country, has found himself frozen out of the international squad, and hopes his return to football will signal a recall to the national side. Greek media have hailed his signing as the biggest in the clubs history, and Smolarek will be looking to make his debut on January 5th when Kavala take on Levadiakos.
