Agnieszka Radwanska stormed into the third round of the Australian Open after beating Russian Alla Kudryavtseva 6-0, 6-2.

Radwanska, who reached the quarter final in Australia two years back, now faces 17th seed Francesca Schiavone. The Pole has been on hot form so far, walking her first round tie 6-1, 6-0 against Tajana Melek. Younger sister Urszala Radwanska hasn’t fared as well, crashing out of the first round after being drawn against defending champion Serena Williams. It took Williams just 73 minutes to seal victory, breezing the match 6-2, 6-1. ‘I wasn’t nervous’, said an unconvincing Radwanska afterwards, ‘it’s just that Serena played well and I didn’t’. Elsewhere Lukasz Kubot, ranked 86th in the world, made it through to the third round of the men’s after beating Columbia’s Santiago Giraldo 6-4 3-6 6-3 6-1 in his second round tie. Kubot now faces 20th seed Mikhail Youzhny.
