In an open letter issued on Dec. 18 the Polish Episcopate’s Family Life Council reminded the country’s parliamentarians of the late Pope John Paul II’s teaching that in vitro fertilisation was “repugnant and unacceptable” because countless embryos die during every attempt to use it.
