The Auschwitz museum has expressed its interest in the diary of Nazi doctor Josef Mengele.

The anonymous buyer of the 200-page journal, the grandson of a former Auschwitz prisoner, has stated that he is willing to ‘sacrifice’ the book as part of the 65th commemoration of the Holocaust.

“We are trying to contact the purchaser in the US as we would like to read the contents. If this is valuable, then the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum is undoubtedly the best place for it,” says museum spokesman Jaroslaw Mensfelt.
