The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has ruled that Poland violated the ‘right to life’ in 2002, when it allowed policemen to shoot at gang members, resulting in a death.Eight years ago, Przemyslaw Kalucki was accidentally shot in the small town of Spala, situated in the Lodzkie region during a police chase.
After hearing that two gangs were to meet up to ‘settle their accounts’ at a local sports centre, the police went to intervene. However, as three of the members attempted to escape by car, officers opened fire, shooting 40 times at the vehicle.
