Reports in the Polish press have sensationally claimed that Wroclaw city authorities lied to UEFA over progress on the new ground.

Wroclaw had been picked as one of four Polish host cities in Euro 2012, though their ability to hold games has now been called into question. The city cancelled their contract with construction firm Mostostal in December, though then chose to hide the news from UEFA officials. National daily Rzeczpospolita claims UEFA have been left fuming, and a memorandum sent around claiming Wroclaw’s hopes of staging the competition are slim. Currently work is approximately six months off schedule, and in spite of assurances from the local council UEFA are said to be monitoring the situation tightly. Should things go belly-up, Krakow is tipped to be the likely substitute city. Work in Warsaw is also believed to have been slammed, with UEFA unhappy with progress on improving infrastructure.
