The owner of two pitbull terriers that attacked a five-year-old Italian girl in a Krakow restaurant last August (see NPE 31/34) is to appear in court charged with endangering the child’s life. The young girl was a guest in Jolanta O.’s restaurant on ul. Grodzka and was heading for the toilet at the rear of the building when the two pitbulls, not wearing the muzzles required by law, escaped from the rear of the restaurant and set upon the child.

The young girl was taken to hospital suffering from severe bite wounds to the head and face, and has been left with scars to this day. The dogs’ owner has cooperated with investigators and expressed her sorrow for the incident and willingness to compensate the girl for her suffering.
