Police in Zielona Gora trying to catch the rapist that has been at large since the end of Jan this year are being misled by false rape claims, with half of the attacks turning out to be fake. This Wednesday Zielona Gora police established that the young girl from Swidnica who claimed to be a victim of the Zielona Gora rapist was lying, the fifth such incident.

The 16-year-old had gone to police on Feb 2 saying that she had been attacked by a stranger while walking her dog in the park. She said she had been thrown to the ground and injured with a sharp instrument before her attacker was startled by passers-by and fled.

“Yesterday we finally confirmed that the attack didn’t take place. The purported victim has admitted as much. She invented the whole story to draw attention away from her school problems. She injured herself. She misled not only the police, but also her family and loved ones. She will go before a juvenile court,” Agata Salatka, spokesperson for Regional Police Headquarters in Gorzow told reporters.

Of the ten reported incidents, five have now been discounted, leaving only the first incidents that took place in Zielona Gora as being likely the work of the same person or persons. Several of the women that made false statements have been charged with wasting police time.
