A man faces two years in prison for beating a dog to death with a hammer in broad daylight.

The incident, which took place in the town of Krasnik, occurred after the man agreed to take the unwanted pet in exchange for a token fee of PLN 40.

“The previous owner already had two other dogs and offered the money as an incentive to someone to take care of it,” says police spokesman Janusz Majewski.
