Actresses at Wroclaw’s Teatr Polski are in revolt after a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, heavily adapted from Shakespeare’s original, was panned by the critics. In an open letter to the theatre’s director they commented, “The negative opinions presented confirmed our increasing conviction while working on the production of a total lack of a concept from Monika Peckiewicz and the playwright Bartosz Fraczkowiak. As a result we got a chaotic performance evincing nothing in the spectator besides an impression of vulgarity and depraved sex.”
