Bird Flu Strikes Again

The discovery of a new case of bird flu in central Poland over the weekend spells death for more than 100,000 birds and serious trouble for the local economy. The news comes just days after another suspected case proved to have been a false alarm.
The latest outbreak, near the town of Karniszyn some 150 kilometres north-west of Warsaw, means that all birds on the 52 chicken farms and 232 small famsteads located within three kilometres of the infected site will have to be killed. The police has closed off the danger zone to all but loc ...
