Large numbers of regional train services were axed this week as a result of an escalating row over payments between the operator, Inter Regio, and Polish Railtrack, with swingeing cuts also likely to follow on Intercity trains in the near future. The root of the problem is debt; Inter Regio owes Railtrack PLN 130 mln for 2009 and is already PLN 106 mln in arrears this year.“There’s no money coming into our account and that’s the cause of the situation.
