Another twist in the Olewnik case
The mystery surrounding the kidnap and murder of Plock businessman Krzysztof Olewnik took another twist after the head of a forensic laboratory involved in the case was charged with falsifying results.
Known only as Jolanta L-B owing to reporting restrictions, the Olsztyn-based scientist allegedly covered up botched DNA tests carried out on the remains of the 25-year-old man, and then falsified the results.
The discrepancies in her DNA tests with those taken from Olewnik’s house led to fears that the human remains may not belong to those of the Plock man, who was kidnapped in 2002 and murdered some time later despite his family paying a EUR 300,000 ransom.
