Lightning struck the theatre
A theatre in Opole was flooded with water a few days ago - after the base of it was struck by lightning.
Upon being hit, the sprinkler system went off, spraying over five tons of water throughout the building, soaking the stage and props, a mere two hours before a performance.
“The storm started and the sprinkler released a curtain of water, which has affected the rotary system that turns the stage,” says Jaroslaw Piechowiak, technical manager of the theatre.
Despite the crew removing the majority of the water within a matter of hours, it is unclear when performances will re-start.
“Much depends on the rotary mechanism of the stage,” says Piechowiak. ...
