The government has put aside PLN 2 bln in aid
The government has earmarked PLN 2 bln in emergency financial aid for those affected by widespread flooding that swept across the country this month.
As the country battled with the worst floods since 1997, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that the government would dip into the budget reserve to bring relief to the thousands of people who had their homes damaged or destroyed by the waters.
Speaking at a press conference, the PM said that resources would come from a reserve for co-financing EU projects, so there would be no need to re-draw the budget despite strong domestic political pressure to do so.
