The Nigerian government has accused the Polish police of a “wanton killing” after they shot dead a Nigerian man during a raid on a Warsaw market.
In a strongly worded statement, the Nigerian foreign ministry condemned the killing, which occurred as the man scuffled with two police officers as they tried to arrest him.
“The ministry strongly believes that there can be no justification for this wanton killing of a Nigerian citizen,” said the statement. “The killing without established culpability demonstrates highhandedness on the part of the Polish police.
