Belka has been named as the new head of the Polish national bank
Marek Belka, a former prime minister, is set to become the next head of the Polish national bank following his nomination by Bronislaw Komorowski, the acting head of state.
Mr Komorowski said that he had opted for the 58-year-old Mr Belka because he thought he had all the attributes necessary to lead the central bank, and that he expected parliament to back his choice.
“I intend to present to the Sejm (the lower house of parliament) a proposal which in my view fulfils all the criteria... Mr Belka has enough experience, skills and theoretical knowledge (for the post),” Mr Komorowski told a news conference.
