Jaroslaw Kaczynski has continued to eat into the lead of his main rival for the presidency, adding a bit of zest to a lacklustre election campaign overshadowed by the widespread flooding.

An opinion poll by Homo Homini gave the Law and Justice (PiS) candidate 35.8 percent, just 6 percent behind Bronislaw Komorowski, the Civic Platform (PO) candidate, and acting head of state, following the death of President Lech Kaczynski in the Smolensk disaster.

The latest poll confirms Mr Kaczynski’s progress in his attempt to overhaul Mr Komorowski. When the campaign started, not long after the April 10 crash, a significant gap between him and the PO candidate existed, and there was speculation ...
