Shocking news at the zoo

Staff from the Warsaw Zoo have spoken out about some of the harmful objects they are forced to pick up from animal cages.

Stones wrapped in sweet wrappers, old coins and cakes filled with razor blade are just some of the items that have been found in the living compounds.

“Cleaners come every morning after visitors have left and you would not want to know some of the things that have been left behind,” says head worker Rafal Okonski.

On top of the harmful objects, staff have reported a rise in the number of items stolen from the zoo toilet facilities, such as hand dryers, toilet rolls and mirrors.  ...
