Wlodarczyk has broken the world record with her 78.30m throw
Anita Wlodarczyk set a new world record in the women’s hammer competition in Bydgoszcz with a throw of 78.30m last Sunday.
She was clearly delighted, but celebrated more calmly than she had last year in Berlin when she became World Champion, twisting her ankle while jumping for joy. The hammer thrower has only just hit what she calls, “competition form” after a long winter of training and feels she has a lot more in the tank. “I’m full of potential, I think 80m is within my reach – maybe I’ll throw that far this year?” she told Przeglad Sportowy.
