Two birds of prey and a stork found dead at a forestry commission bird recovery centre in Orneta, Mazury, were confirmed to have been carrying the H5N1 strain of the virus. Veterinary officials said special permission would be needed before any culling could occur at the site as many of the species concerned are endangered. Tens of thousands of farm birds have been slaughtered to contain the disease since H5N1 was found in early December at two farms near P³ock, central Poland. ...
